The implementation stage of new technology is one of both great excitement and tremendous apprehension. This is the part of the process where your decisions are either going to see a smooth launch and integration, or where your greatest fears could be realized. Failing to select the right leaders, manage employee considerations, or even something as simple as data entry could all work to scuttle your best efforts. However, with the proper planning and resources, the integration process can be seamless. Follow along with this list to learn about some of the pitfalls you might encounter.

Current and Future Processes Must be Clear. If your organization wants to remain efficient through the implementation process, then it is incredibly important you have a clear understanding of the ways in which you work before, during, and post implementation. That means enjoying an intimate knowledge of your process, entertaining multiple rounds of internal analysis, while staying well-abreast of opportunities to improve. Knowing the ins and outs of your organization will be key for an organic implementation of new technology.

Communication is Critical. Communication between leadership, implementers, and users is key to integrating new tech into your organization. Having checkpoints, where all those involved have the opportunity to discuss new concerns or issues as the technology is implemented, will help with on-going troubleshooting. Offering that line of communication can also assuage the hesitations of users who might not feel like they can voice their concerns.

You're Only as Strong as Your Training. Having hands-on training just prior to go-live, with an open line of communication will help employees feel like they can rely on the strength of their support network. Not understanding something can be an isolating and demoralizing situation to find yourself in and training can be the perfect balm to that wound. Many vendors offer standard training for your new tech, but because it is standardized, it might not fit with the way your company operates. Our training methods are proven, and the results speak for themselves. By partnering with SDI you can significantly reduce risk implementation failure, and increase speed of competence.

Problems Will Arise. Let's be honest here: change means uncertainty. However, having a good grip on planning can make all the difference between a failed launch and a successful one. The fact is, poor technical support and leadership support will lead to mounting problems and a reduced impact from your new system. In order to maintain the perception of reliability and credibility, it is crucial you maintain healthy working relationships in and outside of your hierarchy—and that includes everyone in the process, from the top down.
